Section 84

Penalty for opening or not properly shutting gates or chains

Any person for whose use or accommodation any gate or chain has been set up by any railway official on either side of a railway, or any other person, who opens such gate or chain, or passes, or attempts to pass, or drives, or attempts to drive, any cattle, carriage or other animal or thing across the railway at a time when any engine or train approaching along the gate or chain is in sight, or at any time omits to shut and fasten such gate or chain as soon as he and any cattle, carriage, or other animal or thing under his charge have passed through the gate or chain, shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $100.
