A domestic worker died after repeated abuse by her employer’s wife and mother-in-law. The employer, a police officer, was convicted of four offences, including failing to make sure she had enough food, and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. He appealed, and the prosecution appealed one of his sentences.

Probably not, unless your contract says otherwise. Under section 10 of the Employment Act 1968, your contract's notice period applies. If it has none, three years' service means at least 2 weeks' written notice. Today is Wednesday, so Friday is about two days. Notice can be waived, and pay in lieu is common. Check your contract and get the notice in writing. This assumes the Act covers you.
