Penalty on master for fraudulent alteration in pilgrim ship after certificate obtained
Any master of a pilgrim ship who, after having obtained any of the certificates mentioned in section 146 or 167, knowingly or negligently does or suffers to be done anything whereby the certificate becomes inapplicable to the altered state of the ship, the pilgrims on board, or other matters to which the certificate relates, shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $2,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months or to both.[187
