Preliminary inquiry
(1)
Where a shipping casualty has occurred, a preliminary inquiry may be held, respecting the casualty, by the Director or any person appointed by him for the purpose.
(2)
For the purpose of any such inquiry the person holding the inquiry shall have the powers of an inspector under this Act.
(3)
After hearing such inquiry, the person holding the inquiry shall forward a report thereof to the Minister without delay.[269** Section 268 in the 1970 Edition was repealed by Act 38/84.
