Section 80

Visits by Judges, Magistrates, etc.

Every Judge, Magistrate or Justice of the Peace having jurisdiction in the place where any prison is situated may —

(a)

whenever he or she thinks fit, enter into and examine the condition of the prison and of the prisoners therein;

(b)

question any prisoner or officer; and

(c)

enter any observation he or she thinks fit to make in reference to the condition of the prison in a Visitors’ Book to be kept for that purpose by the Superintendent, which book must be duly produced to the Visiting Justices at their next ensuing visit.
