Section 85

Offence to operate loudspeaker

(1)

It shall be an offence for a person to operate any loudspeaker or other instrument for the production or reproduction of any speech, sound or music in any street or public place or any premises adjoining any street or public place, so as to interfere with any election meeting or so as to cause annoyance to persons conducting or attending the meeting.

(2)

Any person who contravenes subsection (1) shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $1,500 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months.

(3)

The offence under subsection (2) is an arrestable offence within the meaning of the Criminal Procedure Code 2010.
