Offences under the Penal Code

Subject to the other provisions of this Code —

(a)

any offence under the Penal Code [Cap. 224] may be tried by the High Court or by any other court by which the offence is shown to be triable in the 8th column of Schedule A;Offences under other laws(b)any offence under any law other than the Penal Code [Cap. 224] may be tried by the High Court or by any other court mentioned in that behalf by that law;

(c)

when no court is so mentioned such offence may be tried by the High Court or by any court constituted under this Code:Provided that —

(i)

no District Court shall try any such offence which is punishable with imprisonment for a term which may exceed 10 years;

(ii)

no Magistrate’s Court shall try any offence which is punishable with imprisonment for a term which may exceed 3 years.
