Section 59

The Controller or any immigration officer authorised by name or by office in that behalf by the Minister by notification in the Gazette may compound such offence under this Act or the regulations as may be prescribed as being an offence that may be compounded by collecting from the person reasonably suspected of having committed the offence a sum not exceeding $500.
