Section 39

Unauthorised solemnisation of marriage

Any person who, not being authorised to do so under this Act, solemnises or purports to solemnise any marriage shall be guilty of an offence and shall on conviction be punished with imprisonment for a term not exceeding 10 years and shall also be liable to a fine not exceeding $15,000.
