Rules on law firms

(1)

The Minister may make rules for the purposes of this Division.

Without limiting subsection (1), any rules made under that subsection may —

(a)

prescribe anything which may be prescribed under this Division;

(b)

provide for restrictions to be imposed on persons or classes of persons who may be partners in a law firm;

(c)

provide for the payment of fees (including administrative fees and processing fees) and other charges for applications made under this Division or any rules made under this Division, and for related matters;

(d)

provide for the suspension, revocation or lapsing of any law firm licence;

(e)

provide for the keeping of accounts by a law firm and for the matters set out in section 72;

(f)

exempt any person or entity or any class of persons or entities from, or modify the application in relation to any person or entity or any class of persons or entities of, any provision of this Division; and

(g)

prescribe such transitional, savings, incidental, consequential or supplementary provisions as may be necessary or expedient.
