Section 156

Relationship between client and law corporation

A law corporation has the same rights and is subject to the same fiduciary, confidential and ethical requirements with respect to each client of the law corporation that exist at law with respect to a solicitor and his or her client.

Solicitor-client privilege exists between a law corporation and a client of the law corporation in the same way as it exists between a solicitor and his or her client and extends to every regulated legal practitioner who is an officer or employee of the law corporation.

Sections 128 to 131 of the Evidence Act 1893 on professional communications apply to a law corporation, its officers and its employees as they apply to a solicitor.
