President, vice‑presidents and treasurer
(1)
There is to be a president, 2 vice‑presidents and a treasurer of the Society who are elected by —
members and members-elect of the Council taking office in either case on 1 January after an annual election under section 54(1) from among those members at a meeting of the Council before that date; or
members of the Council taking office under section 54(2) from among those members at the first meeting of the Council.

If any casual vacancy arises in respect of the office of the president, a vice‑president or the treasurer of the Society, the Council must, at its next meeting or as soon as possible thereafter, elect one of its members to fill the vacancy.
(3)
The president of the Society, or in his or her absence a vice‑president of the Society nominated by the president, is the chairperson of the Council and presides at all meetings of the Council and of the Society.
(4)
In the absence of the president and the vice‑presidents of the Society, the Council or the Society (as the case may be) must elect a chairperson from among the respective members.
