Section 13

Appointment and duties of Registrar

(1)

There must be a Registrar of the Polytechnic who is to be appointed by the Council upon the terms and conditions determined by the Council.

(2)

The Registrar —

(a)

is the secretary of the Council;

(b)

must attend all meetings of the Council unless excused by the Chairperson;

(c)

must maintain proper records of the meetings; and

(d)

must carry out any other duties assigned by the Council.

(3)

In the Registrar’s absence, the Chairperson may appoint a suitable person to act as secretary for a particular meeting.

(4)

The records of any meeting must be circulated to members of the Council within 14 days of the date of the meeting.

(5)

The Registrar is not, unless he or she is a member of the Council appointed to serve in that capacity for a particular meeting under subsection (3), entitled to vote on any question before the Council.
