List of touts

(1)

The Registrar may publish a list of persons proved to the Registrar’s satisfaction, by evidence of general repute or otherwise, to act as touts or unauthorised advisers to suitors or other persons having business with or before any officer of the Supreme Court, and may alter and amend such list.

(2)

The Registrar may, by general or special order, exclude from the precincts of the Supreme Court any person whose name is included in the list, except when that person is a party to or a witness in any proceedings in the Supreme Court, when that person is to be allowed to remain for such time as is necessary.

(3)

A person’s name must not be included in the list until the person has been heard or had an opportunity of being heard against such inclusion.

(4)

An appeal lies to a Judge sitting in chambers in the General Division from an order made by the Registrar to include a person’s name in the list.

The decision of the Judge sitting in chambers in the General Division is final.

A copy of the list must be kept hung up in the Registry and must be published in the Gazette.

(7)

A person whose name appears in the list of touts under section 39 of the Family Justice Act 2014, or the list of touts under section 62 of the State Courts Act 1970, is deemed to be included in the list under this section, and vice versa.
