Section 15

Computation of operationally ready national service

(1)

In computing the periods of operationally ready national service required under section 14(1)(b)(ii) or (2), the following provisions shall apply:

(a)

where a period of continuous operationally ready national service falls within 2 years, the whole period shall be deemed to fall within the first year;

(b)

a period of operationally ready national service not exceeding 4 hours shall be deemed to be half a day of service;

(c)

a period of operationally ready national service between 4 and 24 hours shall be deemed to be one day of service; and

(d)

where a person serves for a period exceeding 24 hours, every calendar day on which he serves, including the first and the last day, shall be deemed to be one day of service though the latter periods might be of less than 24 hours duration.

(2)

For the purposes of subsection (1)(c), where a period of operationally ready national service between 18 and 24 hours falls within 2 calendar days it shall be deemed to be 2 days of service.
