Section 20

Penalty for employment of seamen in contravention of this Act

(1)

Any person or employer who selects or engages seamen otherwise than in accordance with this Act shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $2,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months or to both.

(2)

Any person or seaman who accepts employment or works in a ship as seaman otherwise than in accordance with this Act shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $2,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months or to both.
