Representation
(1)
Subject to any other provisions of this Act, an accused has the right to be represented in his or her defence before a subordinate military court by an advocate and solicitor, if provided by the accused, or by any officer or senior military expert in the Singapore Armed Forces.
(2)
Where an accused is not represented by a person in accordance with subsection (1) and —
is charged with an offence punishable by death;
is dumb, blind or deaf; or
is suspected of being mentally disordered,the president of the subordinate military court must appoint a defence counsel to assist the accused in his or her defence.
(3)
Where the accused selects a person to represent him or her in a subordinate military court, that person is authorised to do so after submitting to the court a warrant to act signed by the accused.
