Section 18B
Certain building works not to be carried out without permit
(1)
No person shall commence or carry out, or permit or authorise the commencement or carrying out of, any building works affecting or changing the facade or external appearance of any building in the resort area unless there is in force a permit granted by the Corporation for carrying out the building works.
(2)
The Corporation may refuse to grant any such permit.
(3)
In granting any permit under this section, the Corporation may impose such conditions as it thinks fit.
(4)
Where any person fails to comply with any condition imposed by the Corporation, the Corporation may cancel the permit in relation to which the condition that the person failed to comply with was imposed.
(5)
Any person who contravenes or fails to comply with subsection (1) shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $5,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months or to both and, in the case of a continuing offence, to a further fine not exceeding $100 for every day during which the offence continues after conviction.
