Section 52

Upon receipt of information of an accident, the Chief Inspector may, if he thinks it necessary, instruct an inspector to visit the place where the accident has taken place to make a preliminary investigation of the circumstances and record in writing his findings upon such investigation.

Upon receipt of information of a dangerous occurrence, an inspector shall visit the place where the dangerous occurrence has taken place and shall make a preliminary investigation of the circumstances and record in writing his findings upon such investigation.[49A
