Section 6

Meetings of Council

(1)

Meetings of the Council must be held at such times and places as the Council or the Chairperson may determine.

(2)

At any meeting of the Council, 5 members constitute a quorum.

(3)

The Chairperson presides at every meeting of the Council at which he or she is present, and in his or her absence the Deputy Chairperson presides at the meeting.

(4)

In the absence of both the Chairperson and the Deputy Chairperson, the members present must elect one of their number to preside at the meeting.

(5)

Every question before the Council must be decided by a majority of the votes of the members present at the meeting, and in the event of an equality of votes, the Chairperson or the member presiding at the meeting has a casting vote in addition to his or her original vote.

(6)

Subject to the provisions of this Act and the Public Sector (Governance) Act 2018, the Council may make standing orders to regulate its own procedure, and in particular, the holding of meetings, the notice to be given of the meetings, the keeping of minutes and the custody, production and inspection of the minutes.
