Commissioner may receive and pay to dependants, etc., money due to dead or mentally incapacitated employee from employer

(1)

Notwithstanding anything in any written law relating to the administration or distribution of estates of deceased persons for the time being in force in Singapore, where it appears to the Commissioner that compensation or interest is payable to an employee under this Act and the employee has died before such payment is made, it shall be lawful for the Commissioner to receive and pay the compensation or interest, without production of a grant of representation, to any one or more of the dependants of the deceased employee or to the estate of the deceased employee.

3(2) Where it appears to the Commissioner that compensation or interest is payable to an employee under this Act and the employee is mentally incapacitated before such payment is made, it shall be lawful for the Commissioner to receive and pay the compensation or interest to any one or more of the dependants of the employee for the benefit of the employee without the appointment of any committee or committees of the employee and estate of the employee required under the Mental Disorders and Treatment Act (Cap. 178).
