Section 34

Unauthorised boarding or disembarking from infected vessel

(1)

The master of any infected vessel must, while it is subject to quarantine —

(a)

prevent and, if necessary, detain any person disembarking from the vessel without being authorised by a Port Health Officer;

(b)

detain any person from Singapore who, without the permission of a Port Health Officer, boards the vessel;

(c)

deliver any person detained to a Port Health Officer;

(d)

prevent any baggage or cargo from being discharged from the vessel; and

(e)

prevent any rodent from leaving or entering the vessel.

(2)

A master who fails to comply with any of the provisions of subsection (1) and any person aiding or abetting a master shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $5,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months or to both.

(3)

For the purposes of section 33 and this section, “infected” means infected with a dangerous infectious disease.
