Phytosanitary certificate

(1)

Any authorised officer or accredited pest control agency may, on application and on such terms as the Director-General may require, issue a phytosanitary certificate stating that any plant or plant product is free from pests for the purpose of export.

(2)

Any person who wilfully —

(a)

gives false information for the purpose of obtaining a phytosanitary certificate;

(b)

falsifies any phytosanitary certificate; or

(c)

uses a phytosanitary certificate with intention of causing it to be believed that a plant or plant product which is not a plant or plant product in respect of which the phytosanitary certificate was issued, is a plant or plant product in respect of which the certificate was issued,shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $10,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 3 years or to both.
