Section 24

Damaging, etc., of fire hydrants

(1)

Any person who —

(a)

not being a member of the Force takes water from a fire hydrant other than for the extinguishment of a fire without the consent of the Commissioner or the Public Utilities Board, as the case may be; or

(b)

wilfully damages a fire hydrant,shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $5,000.

(2)

Any person convicted of an offence under subsection (1)(b) shall, in addition to the fine imposed on the person under that subsection, also be liable to pay compensation to the Public Utilities Board for any expenses reasonably incurred in repairing or replacing such fire hydrant.[11
