Section 56

Prohibition of fire safety works without approval of plans

(1)

A person must not carry out, or permit or authorise the carrying out of, any fire safety works —

(a)

before the Commissioner has approved all the plans of the fire safety works under section 55; or (b)otherwise than in accordance with the plans approved under section 55.

(2)

Any person who contravenes or fails to comply with subsection (1) shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $200,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 2 years or to both and, in the case of a continuing offence, to a further fine not exceeding $1,000 for every day or part of a day during which the offence continues after conviction.[24
