Section 148

Powers of receiver in case of ships in distress

(1)

The receiver may, with a view to the preservation under section 147 of shipwrecked persons or of the ship, cargo or apparel —

(a)

require any persons that the receiver thinks necessary to assist him or her;

(b)

require the master or other person having the charge of any ship near at hand to give any aid with his or her men or ship that is in his or her power; and

(c)

demand the use of any vehicle that may be near at hand.

(2)

Any person who, without reasonable cause, refuses to comply with any such requisition or demand shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $2,000.
