Panel of specialists
(1)
The Minister must appoint a panel of at least 20 specialists who have each at least 10 years’ experience in medical practice.
(2)
The Minister must, in appointing the members of the panel, have regard to the need to appoint specialists who possess the requisite skills, knowledge and qualifications in diagnosing terminal illness.
(3)
Every member of the panel is, except where his or her appointment is revoked by the Minister under subsection (4) or he or she resigns during the period of his or her appointment, appointed for a period of 3 years or for any shorter period that the Minister may, in any case, determine and is eligible for re‑appointment.
(4)
The Minister may at any time revoke the appointment of a member of the panel on the ground of the member’s unfitness to continue in office or incapacity to perform the duties of the member.
