Section 36

Prohibition of registration in certain cases

Notwithstanding anything in any written law, except where consent has been granted by the Board, no registering authority shall —

(a)

register any company, firm or other body of persons which bears any name; or

(b)

register a trade mark or design which bears any name or mark,if the use of the name or mark is in contravention of section 33(1) or (2), or if the name or mark contains or consists of the words “Singapore Standard” or the expression “SISIR” or “SISIR Mark” or the names “Standards, Productivity and Innovation Board”, “SPRING Singapore” or “Singapore Productivity and Standards Board” in any form, or if the name or mark so nearly resembles any of the same as to deceive or be likely to deceive the public.[35
