Section 29
Power to obtain information
(1)
The Director‑General may, by written notice served on any person, require that person to provide the Director‑General, within the time and in the form specified in the notice, any information specified in the notice which the Director‑General may reasonably require for the purpose of exercising and performing his or her functions, duties or powers under this Act.
(2)
A person who —
fails without reasonable excuse to comply with any of the requirements of a notice served on the person under subsection (1); or
in purported compliance with such a notice —
makes any statement to the Director‑General which the person knows to be incorrect in a material respect;
recklessly makes any statement to the Director‑General which is incorrect in a material respect; or
knowingly omits any material particular,shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $10,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months or to both.
