Appointment of Commissioner of Buildings and other officers
(1)
The Minister may appoint any person to be the Commissioner of Buildings.
(2)
The Commissioner has, subject to any general or special directions of the Minister, charge of the administration of this Act and may perform any other duties that are imposed and may exercise any powers that are conferred upon the Commissioner by this Act or any other written law.
(3)
The Commissioner may appoint, by name or office, from among —
public officers; or
persons in the employment of the Building and Construction Authority or such other public authority constituted by any written law as the Minister may approve for the purpose,such number of officers as the Commissioner considers necessary for the purpose of assisting him or her in administering and carrying out the provisions of this Act or any other written law.
(4)
Any powers conferred on and duties to be performed by the Commissioner under this Act or any other written law may, subject to any general or special directions of the Commissioner, be exercised or performed by any officer appointed under subsection (3).
(5)
Every officer appointed under subsection (3) is subject to the general supervision of the Commissioner.
