Prohibition against import of Fourth Schedule biological agents without permit
(1)
A person must not import or procure the import of any Fourth Schedule biological agent unless the import of the Fourth Schedule biological agent is authorised by and is carried out in accordance with the conditions of a permit granted by the Director.
(2)
Every permit to import a Fourth Schedule biological agent is valid only in respect of one consignment of the Fourth Schedule biological agent for which an application for a permit to import has been made.
(3)
Any person who contravenes subsection (1) shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $5,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months or to both.
