Section 17

Power to obtain information and documents

(1)

The Director‑General may, by written notice to any person whom the Director‑General considers to be capable of giving any information or document that is required to be given by Singapore to the IAEA under the Safeguards Agreement, or to a Convention country or the IAEA or any other international organisation under the Nuclear Material Convention, require the person to give such information or document to the Director‑General in such form and manner, and within such period, as may be specified in the notice.

Despite section 58, the duty to comply with a notice given under subsection (1) is not affected by any obligation as to secrecy or other restriction on disclosure, whether imposed by written law or otherwise.

Any person who, without reasonable cause, contravenes a notice given under subsection (1) shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $10,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 3 months or to both.[16
