Section 17

Ceasing of business activities

(1)

The Commissioner may, by written order, require a person to cease all business activities carried on by the person at any premises within a Liquor Control Zone for a period not exceeding the period prescribed, if —

(a)

the person has contravened section 4(1) in relation to those premises; and

(b)

the Commissioner reasonably suspects the person to be contravening section 4(1) in relation to the premises again.

(2)

A person who fails to comply with a requirement mentioned in subsection (1) shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $10,000.

(3)

To avoid doubt, this section has effect despite any other written law authorising the carrying on of business activities at the premises specified in the order under subsection (1).
