Offences as to marks and penalties
Any person who —
marks the carcase or part of the carcase of any animal which has not been slaughtered at a government slaughter-house with any mark with the intention of causing it to be believed that such animal was slaughtered at such slaughter-house; or
makes or has in his possession any die, plate or other instrument for the purpose of the same being used or knowing or having reason to believe that it is intended to be used for the purpose of counterfeiting a government slaughter-house mark; or
sells or exposes for sale or has in his possession for sale the carcase or part of the carcase of any animal which has not been slaughtered at a government slaughter-house, bearing a mark intended to represent a government slaughter-house mark or so marked as to cause it to be believed that such animal was so slaughtered, unless he proves that he did not knowingly so sell or expose or have in his possession such carcase or part of a carcase,shall be liable on conviction to imprisonment for a term which may extend to three months or to a fine not exceeding two thousand dollars or to both such imprisonment and fine.
