Public nuisances to be abated
The Director shall take steps to remove, put down and abate all nuisances of a public nature on public or private premises which may tend either to injure the health or in any way affect the safety or the rights of the inhabitants at large and, if need be, to proceed at law against any person committing any such nuisance for the abatement thereof and for damages, and further shall cause all streets, water-courses, drains, roads, canals and places to be kept clean and free from dirt, filth or rubbish:Provided that where a nuisance arises from any want or defect of a structural character, such steps shall be taken by the Chief Building Surveyor, and for this purpose every reference to the Director in subsections (1), (2) and (4) of section 105, subsections (1), (11) and (14) of section 106, subsection (1) of section 107 and subsection (2) of section 108 of this Ordinance shall be construed as a reference to the Chief Building Surveyor.
