Clause 2

Amendment of section 2

Section 2 of the Stamp Ordinance is hereby amended —

(a)

by deleting the words “the Colony or in the Federation of Malaya” appearing at the end of the definition of “contract note” therein and substituting therefor the word “Singapore”;

(b)

by deleting the words “in any part of the British Commonwealth” appearing at the end of the definition of “marketable security” therein;

(c)

by deleting the expression “the Colony or in British, Dominion, Indian, colonial or foreign currency” appearing at the end of the definition of “money” therein and substituting therefor the words “Singapore or in any other currency”; and

(d)

by deleting the definition of “stock” appearing therein and substituting therefor the following: —“ “stock” includes any share in the capital stock or funded debt of a company, corporation or society in Singapore or elsewhere and stocks or funds of the Government or of any other Government or country;”.
