Clause 133

Disobedience of wife

Any married woman who having ceased to cohabit with her husband in the manner required by the Muslim law and having been ordered by the Shariah Court or a Kathi to resume cohabitation with him, wilfully fails or neglects to comply with such order shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding five hundred dollars or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months or to both such fine and imprisonment:Provided that it shall be a sufficient defence to any prosecution under this section that the husband has on more than one occasion during the preceeding year abused or ill-treated the accused.
