Clause 102
Places which may be used for burials, etc.
(1)
No place shall be used or prepared for the burial or burning of any corpse except —
cemeteries or crematoria provided by the Government or licensed by the Commissioner under subsection (2) of section 101 of this Act;
places heretofore registered under section 105 or licensed under section 106 of the Indian Act XIV of 1856 or otherwise lawfully opened, made or formed, in which burials and burnings, have not been prohibited under section 104 of this Act or under any law previously in force;
places licensed by the Municipal Commissioners before the 1st day of July 1906; or
places licensed by the Minister under the provisions of the Burials Ordinance (Cap. 212) and the Local Government Integration Ordinance, 1963 (Ord. 18 of 1963), prior to the date of the coming into operation of this Act.
(2)
The Commissioner may permit the burial at any suitable place of the corpse of any person who in the opinion of the Minister has rendered eminent service to Singapore notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (1) of this section.
