Clause 4

Amendment of section 8

Section 8 of the Ordinance is hereby amended —

(a)

by deleting the word “ten” appearing in the sixth line of subsection (1) thereof and substituting therefor the word “fifty”;

(b)

by deleting the words “five thousand dollars and to a fine not exceeding five hundred” appearing in the fourth and fifth lines of subsection (2) thereof and substituting therefor the words “ten thousand dollars and to a fine not exceeding one thousand”;

(c)

by deleting the words “five hundred” appearing in the last line of subsection (3) thereof and substituting therefor the words “one thousand”; and

(d)

by inserting immediately after subsection (4) thereof the following subsection: —“(5) The Registrar may, in his discretion, compound any offence under this Ordinance by accepting from a person reasonably suspected of having committed such offence a sum of money not exceeding one thousand dollars.”.
