Clause 19

General civil jurisdiction

(1)

A District Court exercising civil jurisdiction shall be a Court of Record.

(2)

Subject to the provisions of this Act and any other written law which relate to the limitation of the civil jurisdiction of a District Court, a District Court shall have jurisdiction to try all civil proceedings where —

(a)

the cause of action arose in Singapore;

(b)

the defendant or one of several defendants resides or has his place of business or has property in Singapore; or

(c)

the facts on which the proceedings are based exist or are alleged to have occurred in Singapore.
