Repeal and re-enactment of section 11

Section 11 of the Ordinance is hereby repealed and the following substituted therefor: —“Elected members11.—

(1)

Except as otherwise provided in this Ordinance or in any rules made under this Ordinance, every elected member of the Council under paragraphs (c) and (d) of subsection (1) of section 9 of this Ordinance shall hold office for a term of two years, commencing from the date of his election, but may continue in office until the election of his successor in office.(2) With respect to the members of the Council to be first elected after the date of the coming into operation of this section the following provisions shall apply: —

(a)

four of the members to be elected under paragraph (c) of subsection (1) of section 9 of this Ordinance shall hold office for a term of one year, commencing from the date of their election;

(b)

four of the members to be elected under paragraph (d) of subsection (1) of section 9 of this Ordinance shall hold office for a term of one year, commencing from the date of their election; and

(c)

the members so to retire under this subsection shall be determined by the election.(3) Retiring members of the Council shall be eligible for re-election if they are not otherwise disqualified from holding office in the Council.(4) All elected members of the Council holding office immediately before the date of the coming into operation of this section shall cease to do so on the first annual general meeting of the Society to be held after the date of the coming into operation of this section.”.
