New section 169A
The principal Act is hereby amended by inserting immediately after section 169 thereof the following new section: —“Relief from requirements as to form and content of accounts and reports169A.—
The directors of a company may apply to the Registrar in writing for an order relieving them from any requirement of this Act relating to the form and content of accounts or consolidated accounts or to the form and content of the report required by subsection (6) of section 169 of this Act and the Registrar may make such an order either unconditionally or on condition that the directors comply with such other requirements relating to the form and content of the accounts or consolidated accounts or report as the Registrar thinks fit to impose.(2) The Registrar shall not make an order under subsection (1) of this section unless he is of the opinion that compliance with the requirements of this Act would render the accounts or consolidated accounts or report (as the case may be) misleading or inappropriate to the circumstances of the company or would impose unreasonable burdens on the company or any officer of the company.(3) The Registrar may make an order under subsection (1) of this section which may be limited to a specific period and may from time to time either on application by the directors or without any such application (in which case the Registrar shall give to the directors an opportunity of being heard) revoke or suspend the operation of any such order.”.
