AMENDMENTS TO THE SALE OF FOOD AND DRUGS ACT (Cap. 167)
THIRD SCHEDULE(Section 39).AMENDMENTS TO THE SALE OF FOOD AND DRUGS ACT (Cap. 167)
1. Delete the words “food and” in the long title.
2. In section 1, delete the words “Food and” appearing in the first line.
3. In section 2 —
delete the definitions of “appliance” and “food”; and
delete the words “food or” appearing in the fifth line of the definition of “sale”.
4. In section 4(1), delete the words “food or” appearing in paragraphs (a), (b), (c), (d) and (e).
5. In section 4(4), delete the words “food or” appearing in the first line.
6. In section 5(1), delete the words “food or” appearing in the second and in the fifth lines.
7. In section 5(2), delete the words “food or” appearing in the third line.
8. In section 5(3), delete the words “food or” appearing in the first line.
9. Section 6 is repealed.
10. In section 7, delete the words “food or” appearing in the third line.
11. In section 9(3), delete the words “food or” appearing in the first and second lines.
12. In section 10(1), delete the words “food or” appearing in the fourth and in the ninth lines.
13. In section 11(1) —
delete the words “adulterated food or” appearing in paragraph (a);
delete the words “food or” appearing in paragraphs (b), (c) and (d);
delete paragraph (e) and substitute the following: —“(e)any drug for internal use which contains methyl alcohol, isopropyl alcohol or denatured alcohol:Provided that it is not an offence to sell concentrated flavouring essences with an isopropyl alcohol base where these have been submitted to the Chief Chemist and Chief Inspector of Dangerous Materials for examination and have been accepted by him as concentrated essence;”;
delete paragraph (f); and
delete the words “food or” wherever they appear in paragraph (g).
14. In section 12, delete the words “food or” wherever they appear therein.
15. In section 14(1), delete the words “food or” appearing in the second and in the third lines, and in the marginal note thereto.
16. In section 16 —
delete the words “food or” appearing in the first line;
insert the word “or” at the end of paragraph (d);
delete paragraph (e); and
re-number the existing paragraph (f) as paragraph (e).
17. Section 17 is repealed.
18. In paragraph (a) of section 18, delete the words “food or” appearing in the first line.
19. In section 19(1), delete the words “food or” appearing in the first line.
20. In section 19(2), delete the words “food or” appearing in the first and in the third lines.
21. In section 19(3), delete the words “food or” appearing in the second line.
22. In section 20(4), delete the words “article of food or” appearing in the first line.
23. In section 21, delete the words “food or” appearing in the first line.
24. In section 22(5), delete the words “food or” appearing in the first line.
25. In section 26(1), delete the words “food or” appearing in the third line.
26. In section 28(1) —
delete the words “food or” appearing in the second line of paragraph (a);
delete the words “food or” appearing in the third line of paragraph (b);
delete the words “food or” appearing in the second line of paragraph (c);
delete paragraph (d) and substitute the following: —“(d)to secure the cleanliness and freedom from contamination of any drug in the course of its manufacture, preparation, storage, packing, carriage, delivery, exposure for sale or sale and to secure the cleanliness of places, receptacles and vehicles used in such manufacture, preparation, storage, packing, carriage, delivery, exposure for sale or sale and for these purposes to require any person to submit to a medical examination;”;
delete the words “food or” appearing in the first line of paragraph (e);
delete the words “food or” appearing in the first line of paragraph (f);
delete the words “food or” appearing in the second line of paragraph (g);
delete the words “food or” appearing in the second and third lines of paragraph (h);
delete paragraphs (i) and (j);
delete the words “food or” appearing in the fifth line of paragraph (k); and
re-number the existing paragraphs (k), (l) and (m) as paragraphs (i), (j) and (k) respectively.
27. In section 28(2), delete the words “foods or” wherever they appear therein.
28. In section 28(4), delete the words “food or” wherever they appear therein.
29. In the Schedule, delete the words “Sale of Food and Drugs Act” wherever they appear therein and substitute therefor in each case the words “Sale of Drugs Act”.
