Amendment of section 28

Section 28 of the principal Act is hereby amended —

(a)

by deleting the words “five hundred dollars” appearing in the sixth line of subsection (1) thereof and substituting therefor the words “one thousand two hundred dollars”; and

(b)

by inserting immediately after subsection (5) thereof the following subsection: —“(6) The Minister may, by notification in the Gazette, vary the amount of deposit specified in subsection (1) of this section but such amount shall not exceed ten per cent of the total allowances payable to a Member of Parliament in each year.”.
