Amendment of section 22
Section 22 of the Enlistment Act is hereby amended by deleting subsection (1) thereof and substituting therefor the following: —“(1) No employer shall dismiss a person solely or mainly by reason of any duties or liabilities which that person is, or may become, liable to perform or discharge by reason of his being, or being liable to be, called up for —
service under this Act; or
mobilized service pursuant to section 64 of the Police Force Act (Cap. 78); or
voluntary service in the division of the Singapore Armed Forces known as the People’s Defence Force pursuant to the Singapore Armed Forces Act, 1972 (Act 7 of 1972) and the regulations made thereunder or in the Special Constabulary pursuant to the Police Force Act and the regulations made thereunder,unless that person has assumed duties or liabilities in connection with additional reserve service under a punishment imposed by a court pursuant to subsection (14) of section 114 of the Singapore Armed Forces Act, 1972, in which event an employer may in his discretion dismiss that person.”.
