Repeal and re-enactment of section 23
Section 23 of the Enlistment Act is hereby repealed and the following substituted therefor: —“Leave of absence23.—
The employer of a person required to report for —
national service; or
mobilized service pursuant to section 64 of the Police Force Act (Cap. 78);
voluntary service in the division of the Singapore Armed Forces known as the People’s Defence Force pursuant to the Singapore Armed Forces Act, 1972 (Act 7 of 1972) and the regulations made thereunder or in the Special Constabulary pursuant to the Police Force Act and the regulations made thereunder,shall grant that person leave of absence during his period of service.(2) Any person who contravenes the provisions of this section shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding five thousand dollars or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years or to both such fine and imprisonment.”.
