Clause 31

Powers of search and arrest

(1)

The Controller or a police officer may without warrant and with or without assistance enter by force, if necessary, and search any place or premises or person found thereat if he has reason to believe that any evidence of the commission of an offence under this Act or any regulations made thereunder is likely to be found on such place or premises or person and may seize any evidence so found.

(2)

No female shall be searched under this section except by a woman.

(3)

The Controller or a police officer may arrest without warrant a person whom he reasonably believes has committed an offence under this Act or any regulations made thereunder.

(4)

Where a person is arrested by the Controller under the provisions of subsection (3) the Controller shall comply with the provisions of sections 34 and 35 of the Criminal Procedure Code (Cap. 113) as if he were a police officer.
