New sections 33A and 33B
The principal Act is hereby amended by inserting immediately after section 33 thereof the following new sections: —“Wearing of seat belts33A.—
The Minister may make rules requiring, subject to such exceptions as may be prescribed, persons driving or riding in motor vehicles to wear seat belts of such description as may be prescribed.(2) Rules under this section —
may make different provisions in relation to different classes of vehicles, different descriptions of persons and different circumstances; and
may make any prescribed exceptions subject to such conditions as may be prescribed.Sale of seat belts33B.—
No person shall sell or offer for sale or have in his possession for sale any seat belt which is not of a type approved by the Minister.(2) Any person who contravenes the provisions of subsection (1) of this section shall be guilty of an offence under this Act.”.
