Amendment of section 5

Section 5 of the Immigration Act is hereby amended —

(a)

by deleting the marginal note thereto and substituting therefor the expression “Entry into or departure from Singapore.”; and

(b)

by deleting subsection (2) thereof and substituting therefor the following: —“(2) The Minister may, by notification in the Gazette, prescribe approved routes and declare such immigration control posts, places of embarkation, authorised airports, authorised points of departure or authorised departing place, as the case may be, and no person shall, unless compelled by accident or other reasonable cause, leave Singapore except at an authorised place of embarkation, airport, point of departure or place of departure.(3) Any person who contravenes the provisions of subsection (1) or (2) of this section shall be guilty of an offence under this Act.”.
