Repeal and re-enactment of section 44

Section 44 of the principal Act is hereby repealed and the following substituted therefor: —“Prevention of fire44.—

(1)

All practical steps shall be taken to keep sources of heat or ignition separate from inflammable materials or any process giving rise to any inflammable gas or vapour.(2) In every factory there shall be provided and maintained, so as to be readily accessible, means of extinguishing fire, which shall be adequate and suitable having regard to the circumstances of each case.(3) The means of extinguishing fire provided in accordance with subsection (2) of this section shall be tested at regular intervals by a competent person.”.
